We are very excited to announce that Accessible Academics has been selected to compete in Pitch 10! The project we are pitching is to offer our social skills workshop for free for more than 100 teens and young adults. This
summer we piloted our social skills workshop, adapted out of the evidence-based UCLA PEERS for Young Adults social skills curriculum. Students immediately applied the skills learned in the workshop. They practiced starting and maintaining conversations, finding sources of friendships, calling someone on the phone, and hosting or attending get-togethers. Students established friendships within the workshop group and continue to be in contact with one another. With this grant, our hope is to be certified to teach the full PEERS program and expand this workshop series to make it available to more students.
If you are interested in supporting this project, consider coming out to the Pitch 10 event on Thursday, October 3rd, 5:30-8pm! Ticket information is included below this email. Tickets are $25 and include two drinks, appetizers, and two votes for the agencies you want to see win. Regardless of the outcome, it will be a fantastic evening!
